FAQ
Should I buy a full body mat or a localised device?

Whatever your intended use for PEMF therapy, due to the large treatment area provided, a full body mat is always ideal.

Many localised PEMF devices are used alongside full body mats to "top up" the therapy and most full body mat packages (e.g Curatron) will include a localised pillow pad.
What matters the most intensity, frequency or waveform?

The short answer is intensity (measured in Gauss), when researching PEMF it's easy to get caught up in frequencies and waveforms but most devices available have a similar range of frequencies and waveforms, the way the devices differ the most is the intensity (Gauss).

There is a noticeable difference between the effects of using low or high intensity, both are effective however higher intensity therapy (50 Gauss+) is much stronger and will generally yield faster results.

Magnetic Field Tester
What is the Intensity?

Intensity is the strength of the magnetic field produced by the copper coils within the PEMF device.

A simple way to understand intensity is that it you placed a magnet above a higher intensity device (100 Gauss+) you will feel the magnet moving because the magnetic field is strong enough to move the magnet. On a lower intensity (0.65-2 Gauss) mat there will be a magnetic field present however it will not be strong enough to move the magnet.
PEMF Frequency
What is a PEMF Frequency?

PEMF frequencies are how often per second the magnetic field cycles and the majority of PEMF devices for home use have frequencies between 1-1000 Hz

The frequencies for pre-set programs on PEMF devices are usually selected to duplicate the ones used in clinical studies and research
into PEMFs.

PEMF Waveform
What is a waveform?
Put simply a waveform is the shape of the signal. A PEMF device emits a pulsed electro-magnetic field and this signal can have many different shapes such as square or saw tooth.

Many different waveforms have been used in the thousands of clinical studies and even the famous NASA square waveform has been changed many times so even though a lot is made of waveform by some manufacturers there is little evidence that changing the waveform makes a noticeable difference to the therapy and the intensity of the device is a more important factor.
How often would I need use the therapy?
For the most benefits we recommend a daily therapy of at least 30 minutes per day.

The great thing about PEMF therapy is that you can use your localised device or full body mat when watching TV, reading or relaxing so it is easy to fit it into your lifestyle.

Magnesium Source
How can I maximise the benefits of PEMF therapy?
A diet rich in magnesium and staying hydrated are some of the best ways to ensure you get the best out of PEMF therapy.

Is it dangerous to use the therapy too much?
It is not possible to overdose on PEMF therapy and there are no known negative effects from using it too much.

We do recommend that you follow the manufacturer’s
instructions provided with the device and we are happy to answer any additional queries for you if you contact us.
PEMF Contraindications
Is PEMF safe for everybody?
PEMFs are regarded as safe. The one absolute exclusion to this is for people who have pace makers or other implanted electronic devices as there is the potential that the PEMF device could interfere with it.

Caution is also advised during pregnancy. Whilst there is no evidence of harm caused by using PEMFs during pregnancy, their safety has not yet been established.

Will I feel anything during the therapy?
PEMF devices are pain free and you will not normally feel any sensation during the therapy. Many people experience a feeling of wellness and relaxation during the therapy.

Many PEMF devices are supplied with small magnets or other magnetic field detectors so you can be sure the device is working.
PEMF Vs EMF
Are EMFs and PEMFs the same?
It is unproven that EMFs (such as from wireless devices) have a negative effect on your health but they are also different from PEMFs.

A big difference between PEMFs and EMFs is that PEMF therapy uses frequencies and magnetic fields at therapeutic levels. PEMF devices are considered healing because they replicate the natural magnetic field and low frequencies of the earth and never reach the high frequencies or heating effects of EMFs.
PEMF FDA APPROVED

Is PEMF therapy FDA approved?*

PEMF therapy is FDA approved for certain conditions (not all are listed below) and a short timeline of FDA approval is as follows:

1998 - FDA approved PEMF Therapy for urinary incontinence and muscle stimulation.

2004 - FDA approved PEMF Therapy for cervical fusion patients at high-risk of non-fusion.

2006 - FDA approved PEMF Therapy for treatment of depression and anxiety.

2015 - FDA reclassified PEMF devices from their existing Class 3 category to a Class 2 status, and most PEMF devices that are sold today in the United States are FDA registered as wellness devices.

Is PEMF therapy called anything else?

You may have heard about PEMF therapy under another name.

Common examples are Electromagnetism, ElectroMagnetic Pads, Electromagnetic therapy and Pulse Electro Magnetic Field therapy.
Adverse Effects

Will I experience adverse effects?

Only 5% of new PEMF users will have adverse temporary effects which is caused by the sudden increase in circulation.
